Cruelty free skin care

Happy Friday friends! I'm back with a new Cruelty Free Item of the Week post. It has been awhile since I've done one of these...they were intended to be weekly, which didn't entirely pan out...but we are back! And this week, I want to share with you the 3-Ingredient Cream from S.W. Basics.

I first grabbed this cream one day at Target - honestly because the jar was adorable and I knew the brand was cruelty free. This is a travel or sample size (0.7 oz) of their 3-Ingredient Cream, which can be purchased in a full size 2 oz tube for $29.99 or 3 oz jar for $39.99.

I have to say, this cream is one of my Holy Grail products, especially in the colder months.  I use it as an evening moisturizer on my face before bed and my skin just LOVES it. Plus, I feel very good about using it since I know exactly what is in it.

It is so simple:

     - Fair Trade Organic Shea Butter
     - Organic Coconut Oil
     - Organic Olive Oil

The smell - or lack there of - threw my off a bit at first. But, I got over that really quickly when I saw (and felt) how great this cream worked. Now, disclaimer - I have super dry skin, especially in the winter when we are pumping the house full of hot air. I am not sure how this would work for someone with oily skin, but I can tell you that when I use this consistently, it keeps my skin from ever feeling tight, painful, or dried out. That is a HUGE win for someone that used to pile on the moisturizers every night, only to have my skin suck them up in a matter of minutes.

Other bonus? It can go anywhere...not just your face. I've used it on my hands, neck, and chest too.

When I first take the product out of the jar, I rub it between my fingers a bit to break up some of the natural "clumping" it has (see photos above and below). But once it is warmed up a bit, it is super smooth and glides onto your skin.

Another important note - don't lay right down on your pillow unless you want an oily stain on it ;)

The price tag is a bit steep, but I've started to come to terms with the fact that good skin care (that works) is worth the extra money. This tiny jar lasts a decent amount of time too. So much so that I've never taken the plunge and purchased the large jar yet...but I think I will be this winter, because I never want to be without this cream! If you are interested in trying it out though, I would definitely recommend getting the trail sized jar first. xx
