Recent Cruelty Free Empties

Wednesday, November 15, 2017

Why do the weeks following a long weekend seem to drag on for all eternity? It is only Wednesday, and I feel like I've been at work much longer than just three days already.

I've used up a bunch of beauty products lately, and have been keeping the empty bottles laying around, so that I could share my thoughts on each of them with you! This post will be about the most recent group...but there are also posts coming soon about a big pile of makeup empties and then a big pile of skin care empties, so brace yourselves.

*All items are from cruelty free companies.

Dr. Bronner's Organic Hand & Body Lotion in "Peppermint" //
I loved the smell of this - which is probably what brought me to purchase it in the first place. Well, that and I love Dr. Bronner's soaps. This lotion fell short for me though. The smell is amazing, but I don't like the consistency or feel on the skin, which is why it probably took me so long to get through it. I prefer thicker body lotions and this has a very liquid/watery feel.

Burt's Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser //
Not sure about the brightening claim on this...but I did really enjoy it as a daily cleanser. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it took makeup off - as that seems to be one of my biggest gripes with most face washes. I think a smaller tube of this would be nice to travel with, but I do still prefer my Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse for daily use.

Sonia Kashuk Shimmering Loose Mineral Bronzer //
I love this product, and it is already sitting in my Target shopping cart for repurchase. I use it with a large fluffy powder brush all over my neck and decollete area to give it a bit of color and glow. It is also great as a body bronzer in the summer time when your bare arms and legs are out and about. Definitely worth the $8 (or so) price tag!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo + Conditioner in "Lavender Mint" //
Obsessed. I love this duo so much...and you've already heard me rave about it here. I was bummed to have finished these bottles - but the full size products have already been added to my Christmas list (yes, my family still asks for a list from everyone ;) This is probably some of the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used, and the smell is just amazing. There is also a simple Tea Tree set that my husband is loving - it is fresh scented and tingly, and helps if you have a dry scalp.

Stay tuned for more empties posts coming 'atcha shortly! ...

  2. i have that same gripe with cleansers. i was going to try burts bees oil, and use that to remove my makeup and then use a separate cleanser. i like both of my cleansers for actually cleaning but neither are good for makeup removal, so i use wipes and i want to get away from that (especially as they are neutrogena wipes!). i love Sonia Kashuk's stuff!

  3. I'm really bad with lotion, but I usually like ones that are on the thin side-- as long as they aren't greasy and soak in, do you think I'd like the Dr. Bronner's or not worth trying? The peppermint sounds really nice!
