Mother's Day 2018

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

This past weekend could not have been more perfect. Even thought I was 36 weeks pregnant with Marin last year at this time...this was my first Mother's Day with her here, so it was super special. Aaron has been celebrating this day for me for quite a few years now, since I have been in Aubrey's life & helping raise her, since she was 4 years old. So it wasn't my first Mother's Day, but it was still a special one. I think this might even be my new favorite day of the year!

My Mother's Day weekend kicked off on Saturday...when I was surprised by the most gorgeous bouquet arriving that morning - sent by my amazing in laws. It was so thoughtful of them, and one of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever had!

On Sunday, Aaron took the baby when she woke up, so that I could sleep in. I didn't get up until nearly 9 am, which was amazing. But, also hilarious... as that time would have been getting up early for me even just a year ago! (Pre-Momlife)

Once I got up and got ready, we went to brunch with Marin at First Watch. She is so good when we are out in public and I am really grateful, because we do like to go out to eat and do things occasionally. It makes it so much easier because she is laid back (most of the time). She also LOVE to people watch, which is hilarious. She is so interested in everyone she sees and wants to know what they are up to.

After brunch we head home and I snuggled Marin on the couch while she took a quick nap. Once she woke up, we went for a quick bite of ice cream at our favorite place (Graeter's) and Marin got her own ice cream for the first time. She got vanilla and absolutely loved it. We didn't let her eat the entire thing - it was far too big - and she screamed when we took it away!

I had to run to a hair appointment at 2:30 pm...so Aaron watched Marin when I left. It was nice to get an hour to myself and get a little pampered! I just got a trim, since I'm trying to grow my hair back out - then I head back home. It was such a nice day out, that we decided to get the dogs ready, and Marin in the stroller, and we went out for a walk around the neighborhood.

We finished the day up with dinner and a movie (at home) after Marin went to bed. Such a perfect day, and whole weekend, actually.

I shared the photo above on my Instagram on Sunday evening. It's a candid shot that Aaron took the morning after our little bird was born. I get emotional every time I look at it, because it was the best day of my life.

I knew from a very young age that being a mother was something I had to do in this life. I thank God everyday that everything worked so easily for us, because I know how much some couples struggle. I wish that wasn't the case - I wish all good people that wanted to be parents, were able to without any heartache or struggle. So, I am thankful every day for my little bird. She is the world to me and my husband, and I can't imagine life without her. xx
