I took a break from blogging over the holidays to take a bit of a step back and spend lots of time with family. It was such a wonderful week and great way to end the year. And spending Christmas with my little bird made it that much more special! I'll share some pictures soon.
As I look back at 2017, I wanted to share what my top cosmetic items were in each major category. I've tried lots of products out this year, and these are the best-of-the-best, in my opinion. I've broken the post up into two parts, since there is so much to cover! Let's dive right in...
*Every product mentioned in this post comes from a cruelty-free company
Primer //
CoverFX Illuminating Primer is my hands down favorite. I've tried others that are decent, but this one out performs them all for me. It's a bit pricey at $38, but it lasts a long time and the actual product is such high quality. When used after I moisturize, this primer keeps my skin looking glowy all day - and it keeps my foundation in place.
Foundation //
My favorite foundation this year has been the Bareminerals barePRO liquid foundation. I had such a struggle there for awhile to find a cruelty free foundation that worked with my skin - but my search is over! This is light, but full coverage and has great lasting power. It keeps my dry skin from looking flaky or creased and is super easy to apply and blend. I'll be using this one for a long time!
Concealer //
I jumped on the Tarte Shape Tape bandwagon a few months ago, and I have to say - it really is one of the best concealers I have used. Besides the fact that the packaging is huge and you get a ton of product for your money... it also comes in an amazing range of skin tones, and it is SUCH a good formula. Blendable and lightening, while providing awesome coverage for this mama's tired under eye area!
Setting Powder //
Another CoverFX category winner - their Illuminating Setting Powder. I do love the RCMA powder too, but this one just is the best for me. It is truly translucent, and has a tiny bit of fine shimmer in it - which helps illuminate my always dry skin (especially in the winter). I also love that they have a travel sized version of this product.
Bronzer //
In the bronzer category, my "best of" product is the cult favorite...Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer. This bronzer is smooth and SO blendable. It is also a great shade for lots of skin tones, including my super fair skin - which it can be hard to find bronzer for fair skin that doesn't look like mud on your face! Added bonuses...it's a great price point at under $15, and it smells like coconut-summertime-deliciousness.
Blush //
I don't wear a ton of blush - I never really have because I grew up with rosy skin and it always bugged me having pink cheeks. However, this year I have eased into it...I am almost 30 (eek!) and felt like my face needed a teeny pop of color. The Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso has been basically the only one I've liked enough to routinely wear. It looks scary in the packaging, but is a really nice soft coral shade on the skin.
Highlighter //
This is a hard category for me because highlighters are one of my favorite makeup products and I have quite a few I really like. BUT, if I have to pick the best one...it would be Root Pretty White Gold Illuminator. This highlighter is so pigmented and amazing. The shimmer and glow it gives your skin is unlike any other illuminating products I've used. You only need to apply a tiny drop - seriously the container is going to last me years! Runner up - E.L.F. Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls (only $4!!)
Stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon! xx
I've heard good things about so many of these products! I used to love luminoso but mine was too old so I had to toss it, I should pick up another one though! I think I've been saying for a year now that I want to try that bronzer!
