I can't believe it, but my little bird will be turning a year old in less than four short months. You mamas weren't joking when you said that time flies with your kids. It seems like just yesterday that I was bringing her home from the hospital and she was just a 7 lb little newborn.
It is bittersweet - because my heart hurts thinking that they grow up so fast and that she isn't a tiny baby anymore... but I also have so much joy in seeing her develop and learn, and I am so excited for each new stage that comes.
Anyway, since the big first birthday is approaching, I've been starting to pull together ideas for her party! We are going to go for a boho theme (shocking) and the main goal is for it to just be a fun and laid back time with our closest friends and family.
+ Invitations
I knew right away that I would be using Minted for the party invitations. I have used Minted for important things before such as our save-the-dates and wedding invitations, and I've always been extremely happy with the way they turn out. I love the "Climbing Roses" invite option - it is pretty, but simple at the same time.
+ Cake
I love the look of naked cakes, so I think that is probably the style I'll order for a small birthday cake and then a smash cake specifically for Marin. I've ordered a few faux flowers off of Etsy to decorate the tops as well as a little "One" cake topper. Other than cake, I think we will have some cupcakes too - just simple yellow cake with white frosting.
+ Decor
I have a couple of different ideas for decor. I definitely want there to be a lot of flowers and greenery, and we will probably do a mix between fresh and faux because let's be real - flower arrangements are expensive and this is a one year old's birthday party ;)
Another thing I would like to do is take all of Marin's monthly update pictures and display them in some way. I love the idea of a large rustic photo frame or window with them strung across with twine and clothes pins!
+ Outfits
I am going to take the opportunity to wear my gorgeous Fillyboo dress again since it fits with the boho theme! I wore this dress for my maternity pictures and it is safe to say I'm obsessed with it...so I'd love the chance to wear it again.
As for Marin, I am on the hunt for a little ivory or white dress to match the theme. There are a lot of great options out there between Etsy and brands such as Tea Princess and Dollcake (where we got Aubrey's flower girl dress for our wedding). It will be hard to narrow it down to just one!
And what would a boho party be without flower crowns? I have one from the awesome Miss Stevi Marie on Etsy that I've used multiple times, so I will probably pick from one of her beautiful designs for Marin too.
Those invitations are so pretty and I love the look of naked cakes too-- I can't wait to see how everything comes together, it looks like it's going to be so nice, and I'm swooning over those flower crowns!
