I turned 30 years old today.
It kind of crept up on me... and I didn't think it would feel much different, but it does a bit. It's a little weird feeling to be out of my twenties. But, I think the best years are to come and this next decade is going to be a great one. I've had so many people say they really enjoyed this season of their lives, so I am really looking forward to it!
I don't have any reservations about leaving my twenties behind. I really enjoyed them - I did a lot of great things, had fun with my friends, made some mistakes, and learned a lot.
In my twenties I spent amazing nights with my best girlfriends, finished my undergrad, got my first "real" job, and completed graduate school. I dated the wrong guys, and then found the right one. We bought a house, got married, and I became a mom. Along the way, I made some new friends, lost some old ones, and strengthened bonds with my best ones.
When I step back and look at it...so much happened in the past decade, and I can only image what the next one will bring. Leaving your twenties brings a brief panic - like it's the end of your youth...but that really isn't the case.
Your twenties are spent finding out who you really are and becoming an adult. You learn things like quality will always trump quantity...the importance of being comfortable in your own skin...and that good friends and family are worth their weight in gold. And all the work and progress that happens during that time makes me think your thirties are where you can really flourish.
So bring it on 30 - I'm ready for you. xx
