The Benefits of Rosehip Oil

instanaturals rosehip oil

Happy Monday friends! I wanted to share a quick skin care post with you today. In the past year or so, I feel like I've become somewhat obsessed with skin care - sometimes even more so than makeup! Maybe it's because I turned 30 this year and have really started focusing on my skin's health and using products that are high quality and actually give me results.

After hearing about the many benefits of organic rosehip oil, I decided to order some and add it into my skin care routine. At first, I was a bit confused at where it actually came from, so I did a little research. Basically, rosehip oil is different from rose essential oils because instead of being made from rose petals, it actually comes from the seeds of a fruit that is left behind after a rose blooms.

I started by adding it in the evening, but more recently, I've even been using it occasionally in the morning. When my skin feels extra dry, I put two pumps of this on before my moisturizer. So, if you were considering adding rosehip oil to your own routine, here are some reasons why it can be helpful!

1 // Anti-aging
Rosehip oil is extremely potent in vitamin C and vitamin A, along with essential fatty acids. These vitamins and fatty acids help do various things like protect your skin, combat sun damage, and repair damage through cell regeneration...all of which contribute to treating fine lines and providing an anti-aging defense for your skin.

2 // Moisturizing
This is something I need in a major way - my skin is so terribly dry, most products are absorbed within seconds and leave me feeling that I need more. The fatty acids I mentioned earlier are helpful in hydrating and soothing dry and itchy skin. I have found that using this oil before my moisturizer has really made a difference in how my makeup feels on my face during the day, and it keeps my face feeling ultra moisturized at night.

3 // Skin Tone & Texture
Rosehip can provide various positive changes to your skin tone. These can include firming, brightening, and the evening out of your skin tone through diminishing age spots, sun damage, and redness. I can honestly say that since I starting using this oil, I have felt better about how my skin looks on days when I don't wear makeup. I have also read claims that it can reduce scarring, which I can't speak to personally - but it would be worth a try if you are dealing with acne scarring or hyper pigmentation.

It's important to note that legitimate rosehip oil will be a deep orange/amber color (see photo above) and have an earthy smell to it. I've heard of some people receiving faux products recently, so I wanted to point those details out in case any of you are considering purchasing some. I got mine (this one) from Amazon and have been very happy with it!
