Empties // Spring 2019

Thursday, April 11, 2019

I definitely want to get back into posting on here more regularly. It was nice to step away for a bit, but I missed the blogging community over the past 8-ish months! So here I am, with two posts in one week - baby steps, right?

I've been trying my best to not purchase too many new beauty and skin care items without finishing what I already have first. I was able to hit empty on quite a few things over the past month, so I wanted to share some of them and let you know my final thoughts on each item.

// Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil ($15.99)
I love this oil cleanser - it is one of my favorites, and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it on here before. It removes makeup almost effortlessly and is the perfect first step in my evening skin care routine (step one of a double cleanse). I've been trying out some other oil-based balms more recently, so I haven't repurchased this yet...but I know I will!

// Origins Drink Up Intensive ($26.00)
This product was okay. I purchased it after a recommendation when I really needed an evening moisturizing product to get a handle on my dry skin over the winter. The smell was nice, but I didn't like the consistency and I wasn't wowed by the results. I felt like it was almost sticky in texture, and it didn't give any extra moisture or boost to my skin. Still on the hunt for a great evening moisturizer, but the situation isn't as dire now since we have made it out of the months of cold weather outdoors and heat blasting indoors.

// Diptyque Eau Duelle ($98.00+)
I loved this fragrance. It is a perfect warm scent for the fall and winter seasons...with notes that are rich, deep, and spicy. I love that it isn't inherently feminine or masculine, and I got a lot of compliments while wearing it in the cooler months. Perfect timing that it would run out last month though, because it definitely isn't one that I would reach for in the spring and summer! And while I liked it, there are a few other scents that I have my eye on right now, so I won't be repurchasing just yet.

// Clinique Moisture Surge Intense ($39.00+)
If you have followed me for awhile, you already know that this is a Holy Grail product for me. It is a must have as my daily moisturizer in the morning...whether it be on a fresh face or under my makeup. I ran out once and nothing came close to giving me the results that this does. Needless to say, I won't let that happen again, and I've started buying the biggest size I can find. If you have dry skin, go pick this up immediately!

// Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray ($7.00)
This facial spray smelled lovely and felt very nice on the skin. It had a good dispenser, in that it left a fine misting on your skin or on top of your makeup, without being too heavy. I won't be repurchasing though, because I've moved on to the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist (which is amazing)...and I've also heard rumblings recently about some questionable ingredients in Mario Badescu products.

// NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ($47.00)
Not pictured because I just finished it this morning! I've been using this foundation for a few months now, and while it is decent, I'm just not loving it - and I feel like at the almost $50 price tag, I should really like it more. Now that we are heading into the hotter months of the year too, I feel like I need something with a bit more staying power up against heat and sweat. Open for suggestions if you have them!
